Although many people believe that climate change and global warming are hoaxes, I think that climate change needs to be taken seriously and each country needs regulations for the betterment of the world. These problems should be addressed because the carbon dioxide levels are rising and the ozone layer now has holes because of the greenhouse effect. The United Nations is currently addressing this problem.
The world is under way to transform the air we breath. For the past few years, at the climate conference the countries in the United Nations agreed that we as a whole, should start taking precautions about the carbon dioxide emissions in the world. In December of 2015, the Paris climate conference will outline the the agreement between nations and adopt the agreement that will be applied within the next five years. The European Commission explains what will be discussed in the conference. Here is the link so you can explore the details. (Source #1)
The United Nations has been working on fixing the problem of climate change since the late 70’s. The first conference was held in 1979. This link has a timeline with details of every event from 1979 to current. (Source #2

Thought the years, the UN has involved more and more organizations and countries to express the severity of our climate. The driving force of the organization is the Kyoto Protocol. This was adopted in 1997 and still reigns as the driving force that truly started the movement to a cleaner atmosphere. This protocol entered into force in 2005 and states that the countries that contributed most to the pollution would take responsibility and take action. If you would like to read more about the Kyoto Protocol follow this link to the UN’s website. (Source #3)

Even though all of these things are being conducted, we need to do our own part in saving the environment. Take a shorter shower, ride the bus, and consider others.

Howdy Ags!

My name is Michael Slaughter and I'm an aspiring Veterinarian who likes long walks on the beach with my dog Fish, but most importantly I'm the loudest and proudest member of the fighting Texas Aggie class of 2018!

I'm working towards becoming a Veterinarian because I have a deep love for animals and am very passionate about their well-being. I volunteered for Friends of Texas Wildlife during High School all four years of high school. I raised stranded infant squirrels for Friends of Texas Wildlife and bottle-fed them until they were old enough to be released into the wild.

For more information on how to get involved with this great organization you can go to their website here: http://www.ftwl.org/

I intend to use this blog as a way to increase awareness of animals that are in need. There are many other national organizations that you can be involved in, but if you're looking for something to do locally my best recommendation is to become a part of Friends of Texas Wildlife. They're a great organization that is always looking for more volunteers.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!
